PThe number of people interested in traditional healing is on the rise, and many have turned their focus towards turmeric. It’s a spicy root with incredible healing power. Believe it or not, turmeric is as helpful as 14 pharmaceutical drugs. Polyphenol gives turmeric its power to heal pretty much every condition you heal with statins, steroids, diabetes drugs, chemo and antidepressants.
Studies have found that turmeric provides great effects when used as a remedy for chronic hepatitis, colorectal cancer, diabetes and high cholesterol levels. Instead of taking Lipitor, Oxaliplatin or Metmorfin, scientists encourage patients to use turmeric. It has the power to relieve common symptoms, and doesn’t provide any side effects when used properly.
There are so many studies confirming its potential, and curcumin was the base of them all. About 5,600 studies have found that turmeric can be used as a remedy, and there are over 600 different therapeutic applications.
Scientists encourage authorities to create a plan in which turmeric will be grown and produced as medicine. Over-the-counter turmeric supplements are packed with heavy metals, and the Chinese product contains unhealthy levels of lead. Medical turmeric should be obtained from organic roots that grow in healthy soil rich in minerals.
Curcumin is fat-soluble, so turmeric works better when combined with a healthy fat. You can use coconut oil, olive oil or avocado. Add freshly ground black pepper to boost its bioavailability.
List of medications that may be replaced by turmeric:
Lipitor/Atorvastatin (Cholesterol medication)
Patients can use standardized preparations of curcuminoids from turmeric root instead of statins. A 2008 study released in Drugs in R&D found that turmeric can also correct the underlying pathology that triggers an oxidative stress in blood vessels. Unlike statins, turmeric has no side effects.
Corticosteroids (steroid medication)
Turmeric can relieve pain. A 1999 study published in Phytotherapy Research found that turmeric is as great as steroids when it comes to treating chronic anterior uveitis. Turmeric can be used instead of dexamethasone in cases of lung transplantation-related injury.
Metformin (diabetes drug)
In 2009, a group of researchers confirmed that turmeric activates AMPK, allowing a higher glucose uptake. It suppresses gluconeogenic gene expression in hepatoma cells, encouraging the glucose production in liver.
Oxaliplatin (Chemotherapy drug)
A 2007 study found that curcumin can provide the same effect as oxaliplatin, a chemo drug used to inhibit the proliferation in colorectal cell lines. Another 2004 study found that the combination of curcumin and resveratrol is as powerful as drugs used to mitigate tumor cells. Curcumin provides anti-cancer, chemosensitization and radiosensitization effect.
Scientists have found that curcumin reduces depressive behavior in lab animals. A 2015 study offered great promises and hope. The combination of curcumine and piperine reduces depression in people.
Reversing liver disease
Thanks to its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory power, curcumin reverses liver disease caused by alcohol. It has the power to reverse including elevated liver toxicity markers, lipid peroxidation and inflammatory markers.
Curcumin is better than chemo
A 2010 study released in TNO Nutrition and Food Research found that curcumin can treat cancer cell lines that can’t be affected by chemo drugs. It inhibits MRPI and MRP2. Curcumin can also destroy non-small cell lung carcinoma cell lines.
We should always trust nature as it has the best for us. Why using medication when we can use natural remedies? Turmeric, ginger, herbs and many other foods have shown great effects.
